Hollandia az angol nyelvben miért kap egy névelőt? ('The Netherlands', lehetne csak simán Netherlands) Van ennek valami története?

nether + lands. Mint ahogy első is írta. A "the" azért van ott, mert "lands", és azt is mutatja, hogy a Hollandiát alkotó területekről van szó, nem más mélyföldekről.
