(Makes no sense to me. I do understand what you want to express but like this, it’s very hunglish. Did you feel safe because of his smell??? Did his body scent make you feel safe? Come on! Strong, masculine arms, broad shoulders more likely. His smell could bring out the inner animal of you, at most. )

Wanted to be a sky-high tree and him to be the ivy

(Again, in poetry, here the ivy , the plant/flower would refer to a woman and a big, strong, tall trunk of a tree to a man. )

"the restaurant" helyett "a restaurant", mivel nem csak egy étterem van a folyónál és így a "the" szócskát nem ismétled egy soron belül.

"deep brown eyes" helyett "deep, brown eyes"

His smell helyett His scent legyen, vagy tényleg büdös volt a srác?

"But the soil seemed to be polluted" ez nem jó, legyen inkább "But the soil had to be polluted" vagy "But the soil was to be polluted". "had to", ha már alapból nem akarsz esélyt adni neki, "was to", ha arra akarsz utlani, hogy kipróbáltátok, de előbb-utóbb szétmentetek.

A smell-t ugyanugy hasznaljak illatra is, sokszor bajba vagyok, hogy most akkor milyen is volt az az illet kellemes vagy kellemetlen.
